Fully Funded Combined Trinity College DipTESOL and Diploma in Education and Training (DET) for English Teachers

Languages Training & Development is pleased to announce that full funding has now been reintroduced for the Diploma in Education and Training (DET) for English Teachers. We are therefore in a position to resurrect the combined programme Trinity Diploma in TESOL and DET, which approximately 50 teachers have previously undertaken.

We would, therefore, like to ask you to consider applying or to promote the opportunity among staff or colleagues who may be interested. Applications with CV and cover letter to philip@ltd-oxford.com, 01993 708637.

Inevitably, due partly to changes in funding regime and partly from lessons learned through our first iteration of this funding route, the offer will be slightly different from last time:

  • Length of DET programme – typically 2 academic years (Sept 2020 – July 2022) though faster achievement may be possible for particularly motivated individuals

  • Workshops delivered via video conferencing, one session per week during typical school term-time 16.00-18.00. Monday or Friday (participants may also attend live if they wish). Conferencing means the programme can be studied from abroad.

  • Attendance at LT&D’s premises in Witney one day 10.00-16.00, every other month, for practical experience working with learners of English (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday).

  • 2 weeks attendance during our Erasmus+ programme in Hungary (with accommodation and flights funded through Erasmus).

  • Recruiting March 2020 for September 2020 start, though funding pot is limited so early application is advised.

  • Cost to participants and employers – nil

  • On-going staged payments to participant on production of assignments and final achievement payment

  • Two qualifications at the end of the process. Diploma in Education & Training (PGCE equivalent for Further Education) and Trinity College London Diploma in TESOL

  • Also available to fractional staff or those without permanent positions who are able to fulfil the attendance requirements

Entry criteria: enrolment is not possible until these conditions have been met

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, ideally, in English, Modern Languages or a humanities subject (copies of certificates or transcript will be required),

  • Maths GCSE A-C or equivalent (copies of certificates will be required),

  • Initial Certificate in ELT (e.g Trinity CertTESOL or CELTA – copies of certificates required)

  • Agreement, in principle, from employer for release from day to day work as outlined above

  • Interest in part-time work teaching ESOL and literacy

  • Ability and commitment to complete the DET by July 2022.

  • Nationals or naturalised citizens of UK or EU

  • Ability to attend mobility in Hungary during period autumn 2020 to spring 2021

  • Not currently holding or working towards PGCE, Bachelors in Education, DET, DTLLS or teaching/training Apprenticeship

  • Success at interview
